Today in post-racial America

Harvard prof Henry Louis Gates discovered how evolved we’ve all become on Thursday when he was arrested for breaking and entering.

At his own house.

After proving to police that it was his house.

I don’t give a rat’s ass if he was yelling at the cops. If the police show up on a B&E tip and discover you live in the house in question, they should apologize profusely and go the fuck away. Arresting him should not have even been an option, regardless of what he said.

  1. sounds kinda like when our house was burglarized last month…I called the cops and three enormous black officers showed up but wouldn’t enter to make sure the scumbags weren’t in the house until I went in and made sure the dogs were locked up.

When I complained (loudly) that they were placing the safety of a civilian at risk, I was told I had an attitude and they’d leave if I didn’t show more “respect for the badge” or if I persisted, I’d be arrested.

I only mentioned their race because when I insisted a Sargent be called to the scene I overheard one of them mutter, “dumbass white man”

Oh, and I STILL had to go in first and I never got an apology either (insert mock horror here)

  2. I always find it best to address officers of the law with yes sir and no sir. They seem to be standing at the top of the stairs in most cases. Even when they come on as goose stepping pricks I find the yes sir/no sir approach defuses their tude. Yelling at a cop is like poking a stray dog with a stick, no good can come of it.

  3. I agree with your attorney. I know it shouldn’t be that way. Protect and serve and all that. But, reality is reality. I would love to live in a world where police did not act this way. But we do. And they do. And they have guns. And they will take you downtown — mind your head. And then — you sue them? Call me, and I can help. I don’t poke hornets’ nests either… Don’t piss in the wind. Don’t pull on Superman’s cape. Heck, Leroy had it right.
