Fred Clark Breaks It Down

Sarah Palin is lying about health care reform. She is repeated spreading ideas that she knows to be untrue in order to further inflame her base. She is, probably, a craven and unscrupulous liar, unconcerned with the very real potential for disruption of discourse and actual violence created by spreading such lies.

  1. “The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s “death panel” so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their ‘level of productivity in society,’ whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.”

Technically, that’s not a lie. Since Obama’s “death panels” are not real, the America she knows and loves is not one with death panels.

  2. she’s a politician bending the facts to meet her objectives. she has made some good points on tort reform. As a rule all politicians are liars.

  3. I suspect that, once again, you did not read the link.

Most if not all pols do reframe questions and spin ideas for maximum effect. This is a different thing entirely: Palin is claiming against all verifiable evidence to the contrary that Obama plans involuntary euthanasia panels. It is a calculated and craven lie designed to inflame the idiot republican base, and those behind it DO NOT CARE that such talk could very well result in violence.

This is a profoundly different creature than lying, say, about a blow job.
