In 1980 my father was traveling back to Berkeley from Ireland and it happened that Czeslaw Milosz was on the same flight.
“Congratulations on the prize, Czeslaw,” he said. “Thanks, Michael,” said Milosz, and continued to his seat.
The woman next to my dad asked him, “What prize did that man win?”
“Nobel.”
Ah, Berkeley…
Well, now I have a goal. And, just for the record, they seem to give them out to ALL Nobel Prize winners. Sheesh…
